Training for three

A few weeks ago, patience was running dangerously thin in our household. Jamie and I were fed up with hearing Henry bark every night and were growing increasingly annoyed as the list of things that he decided to chew on grew and grew. Henry's behavior seemed to get worse as we became angrier at him. He got fed up of being stuck in the kitchen every night and, after much struggle, managed to jump the gate and re-jump the gate, which was moved three inches higher.

So, we gave in and got rid of the gate. Baby Barfight now sleeps under our bed at night and is much better behaved. While we're gone for the day, he seems to be a good boy, only leaving his under-the-sidetable den to look out the front window as we leave.

In addition, Henry's now attending weekly obedience classes -- I have faith they'll make a huge difference.

It's hard to believe that, just a few weeks ago, Jamie and I were half-contemplating giving up Henry for adoption. He is such an absolute joy in our lives; we're both so grateful for him. Anyway, owning Henry has reminded us the importance of patience and selflessness. It's also taught me to let go and stop being so uptight.

More on that later.
